LIVEUROPE SHOWCASE: BRODKA, KRZYSZTOF ZALEWSKI, MARRY POPKIDS and others

As a part of Liveurope platform Stodoła invites you for a two-day concert marathon.

The project in focused on young European bands, its aim is to give them a better chance to present their music to a wider audience. Founded in 2014, in cooperation with thirteen clubs in thirteen European cities, the Liveurope platform was the first initiative to support young bands in Europe.

Two days of the Liveurope Showcase at Stodoła Club starting on September 10, mean 28 shows of bands from all over Europe. Stars representing Poland: Dawid Podsiadło and Brodka. Each musician will present a short showcase set.

The project is co-financed by a new EU program called Creative Europe. Additional partners of the Polish edition of Liveurope Showcase are Hungarian Institute and Austrian Culture Forum.

More bands to perform during the Liveurope Showcase in Stodoła, will be announced shortly.

BRODKA (PL)
Monika Brodka is a Polish singer, who rose to fame as the winner of the third season of Polish Pop Idol (Idol) in 2004. Brodka's third studio album Granda was released in September 2010. The album showed a big change of musical direction, and was described in The Guardian as drawing on electro, rock and roots music, but remaining resolutely pop in its approach and execution, the record has a vitality and adventurousness that puts most of Poland's alt-rock acts to shame. Granda was certified double platinum in Poland in November 2011. In May 2012, Brodka released an EP LAX, which was recorded at Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles together with music producer and engineer Eric Stenman. The EP contains two new songs in English, Varsovie and Dancing Shoes, as well as some remixes. Brodka won the 2013 Fryderyk award for Song of the Year (Varsovie), and received two nominations in categories Album of the Year (LAX) and Artist of the Year.

KRZYSZTOF ZALEWSKI (PL)
Song writer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist. Zalewski is considered one of the best singers in Poland. He comes from hard rock background but with his new record Zelig he went into alternative rock direction. His concerts are pure rock energy and very original music experiences.

MARY POPKIDS (HU)
Mary PopKids is an alternative pop band based in Budapest, Hungary. The band is getting recognition for their inventive music videos and eclectic live shows mixing soul, funk and electronic music, as well as comparisons to bands like Foster the People and Imagine Dragons. Following the release of their EP At The Bar in 2010, and single Mosoly in 2012, winning "Best Music Video" of the year from Viva/MTV Hungary, the band released their single Nightdrive in 2013, receiving critical- and public acclaim for the refined sound and music video. Mary PopKids first LP The Blue Inside was released in April 2014, and became no. 1. on iTunes and Deezer in Hungary and is getting heavy airplay on radios and music TVs.

POLA RISE (PL)
Composer, singer and songwriter. Her music is combination of many regions, is filled with emotions, electronics and live sounds. First video Did you sleep last night has already been viewed 130 000 times. Another single, which was announcing  The Power of Coincidence LP, Soulless Dance, has been played on many radio playlist and has been viewed 120 000 times.

NIKLAVZ (LV)
Based in Latvia, NiklāvZ has become a beatmaker easily confusable to those hailing from the L.A. beat scene. Recognized for his future wave, trap and juke fusing production, NiklāvZ has drawn similarities to the likes of Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke. His debut solo EP Slazds (2012) was released by Dirty Deal Audio (DDA). Whether doing a DJ-set or playing live, NiklāvZ always gets a reaction: whether it means pleasing the crowd at Positivus’ RBMA stage; warming up for Araabmuzik’s Baltic tour; playing at Primavera Sound Festival or triumphing at Satta Outside Beat Battle. NiklāvZ has become one of the most well-reputed beat makers of the region, and signing with Finnish based imprint Top Billin only solidifies this position.

ODD COUPLE (DE)
Odd Couple is a Berlin-based duo - Jascha Kreft and Tammo Dehn. Together they deliver an urgent, sweaty rock ’n’ roll. It’s about using limited resources to send the audience into a frenzy, regardless of who is operating which instrument.
Their debut album It’s a Pressure to Meet You is what you could call “a Berlin album”, one that neither venerates nor rejects Berlin. It’s a Pressure to Meet You is a sort of catalogue of symptoms from this mode of living.

IAMYANK (HU)
Iamyank is a multi-instrumentalist producer / songwriter who keeps building up memorable scenes around the audience with futuristic synths, spacey guitar and dirty drums on the edge of instrumental and electronic music.
The first EP, titled Cold Summer, was released in 2013 and it got positive reviews from both the audience and critics in Hungary. His fan base started to grow anticipating following releases, so he spent more time on writing songs and released 2 more EP-s in 2014 titled City of Nobody and Last Song. On 2nd of March 2015, iamyank released another EP Lost Sounds.

JOYCUT (IT)
JoyCut looks and sounds very attractive on stage. Two drummers sitting face to face and a guy with machines, both a conductor and author in between them. Electronic and dark-wave, often experimental but always accessible. In 2014 they played more than 150 concerts among U.S. + Canada + Europe. The band has recently supported The Chemical Brothers Italian tour. PATRICK THE PAN (PL)
Americans with admiration say about artist like Patrick The Pan “self-made man”. Piotr Madej, because this is his real name, composed, played, sang and recorded his debut album by himself, in his flat in Cracow, but it was enough to impress listeners and media. No wonder: the combination of compositional talent and sensitivity, like this, does not happen often.

TRIANA PARK (LV)
Fronted by the leggy, Latvian vocalist, Agnese Rakovska, Triana Park is known for a kaleidoscopic musical mix of rock, pop and funk, with powerful vocals, and light-hearted approach of music. The band love to play play live with a positive vibe, boundless energy and the tunes to back them up. The live shows of the group are filled with both musical and artistic surprises, an eclectic sound and the extravagant costumes of singer Agnese. Triana Park’s debut-CD was nominated for the Latvian Music Awards, they played at SXSW and a have performed in several European countries. Triana Park EP album of 6 songs was realized August of 2014.

THE SOUND POETS (LV)
In 2013 they released their first album, which received the Latvian Music Award for the best pop-rock album of 2013. This was followed by overcrowded gigs at festivals and sold out headline shows around the capital city and regions of Latvia. In 2014 The Sound Poets released an album in English, which served as the first step in the international music scene. In 2014 the band participated in Tallinn Music Week, Vilnius Music Week, Reeperbahn Festival in Germany and Lost in Music Festival in Finland.

MILKY WISHLAKE (PL)
Young, promising producer, singer, composer and pianist. He debuted at the end of 2014 with 20 minutes EP Five Contemporary Songs. His inspirations are Queen, Jamiroquai, Talk Talk and Bjork but journalists put him next to artists like Sohna, Burial or How To Dress Well. His debut album will be surely one of the most important musical events of 2015.

KORTEZ (PL)
26-year-old composer and singer, educated pianist and trombonist with a unique and deep voice. He began to sing few years ago. After a few months wrote his first songs. At the beginning of 2014 he signed a contract with Jazzboy Records. In March 2015 he released his first EP entitled Jazzboy Session EP, which consisted of three songs: Zostan, Joe and Co myslisz ?. Song Zostan has already become a hit. His debut album Boomerang is an intimate collection of stories about love and its absence. The premiere is scheduled for 25 September 2015.

PYRO TREES (LV)
Pyro Trees is a psychedelic indie rock band founded in 2011 by two brothers - Peteris and Rudolfs. The band kick-started their career in 2012 by winning their debut album recording contest with one of the top Latvian alternative stations at the time - Radio101. After a dynamic summer 2014, where the band performed at some of Latvia’s biggest music festivals, including Positivus Festival, Summer Sound and others – the guys escaped to the coastal region of Mazirbe, to peacefully record material for their debut EP, which was released in February 2015 and consisted five songs: Memories, Resistor, Strange Days, Eyes and Hide.
