LIVEUROPE SHOWCASE: DAWID PODSIADŁO, OLY., STEAMING SATELLITES and others

As a part of Liveurope platform Stodoła invites you for a two-day concert marathon.

The project in focused on young European bands, its aim is to give them a better chance to present their music to a wider audience. Founded in 2014, in cooperation with thirteen clubs in thirteen European cities, the Liveurope platform was the first initiative to support young bands in Europe.

Two days of the Liveurope Showcase at Stodoła Club starting on September 10, mean 28 shows of bands from all over Europe. Stars representing Poland: Dawid Podsiadło and Brodka. Each musician will present a short showcase set.

The project is co-financed by a new EU program called Creative Europe. Additional partners of the Polish edition of Liveurope Showcase are Hungarian Institute and Austrian Culture Forum.

More bands to perform during the Liveurope Showcase in Stodoła, will be announced shortly.

DAWID PODSIADŁO (PL)

Musically educated, David has written lyrics and composed since he was 14. He presented some draft songs to the producer of the record which was subsequently produced at an amazing pace: during just four meetings of three people! In the finals of the new round of the X-Factor David sang his début single, and a month later – in the atmosphere of maximum expectation among the fans – the album Comfort and Happiness was released. The first single (S&T) has dethroned the new singles of Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Sting, and Black Sabbath on all playlists, and the album made No. 1 at the National Sales Chart in its début week, and has remained in TOP 20 for over a year! The media in one voice recognised the record as unique, and named David the most extraordinary début of the decade! The album reached for gold within the first week of sales, to capture platinum in a month, and today is coming close to nearly four times that!

OLY. (PL)
21-year old singer-songwriter with a delicate voice and incredibly mature melodies. Gifted with brilliant sensitivity and songwriting talent. Oly.'s songs are remarkable tales. Each focuses on a story and an original idea to tell it. Gifted with a gentle, unmistakable voice, she is unpretentious, true and natural. In June 2015, the independent NEXTPOP Songwriters' Label released her debut album Home. Her songs, well-known for their acoustic setting, will burst out in lush arrangements based on the busy rhythm section including an unusual solid wood drum, vintage guitars, a small piano, an old cello, voices, sounds from the surroundings, and a note of electronica. Oly. has written music and lyrics to all the songs on Home.

STEAMING SATELLITES (AU)
One year after the release of their highly acclaimed debut album The Mustache Mozart Affaire band has released second LP Slipstream (2013). The band transformed music-wise. Added new (soul-)elements to their sound, reducing it at some points and expanding it at others. The unique, highly distinctive voice of Max Borchardt is still forming a link between all songs, but there is greater emphasis on electronic sounds now. Complex structures combine to draw an acoustic evolution. Nevertheless, the band is still an indie rock band in their hearts and spirit, deeply rooted in the music of the 70s, carrying the heavy weight of Led Zeppelin, the spherical range of Pink Floyd and the explanatory power of Bob Dylan.

SORRY BOYS (PL)
Sorry Boys debuted in 2010 with their first well-received album Hard Working Classes. In November 2013 the band released their second album entitled Vulcano. In numerous music reviews Vulcano was appreciated as one of the best polish records of the year. Sorry Boys style is compared to artists such as Kate Bush, Florence and The Machine, Hey or artists from 4AD records. The band created their own, unique sound characterized by hypnotic vocals of Bela Komoszyńska, charismatic instrumentalists and the ability to create an amazing atmosphere on stage.

ILLE (CZ)
Czech band of experienced musicians formed around singer/keyboardist/author Olga Königová. They released their debut LP in late 2013. The album has received very good press reviews, immediately took the 2nd spot in Czech iTunes sales, and the singles have enjoyed heavy rotation in both alternative and mainstream radio stations. Solid songwriting, captivating voice and a certain almost Scandinavian melancholy that has resonated with alternative audiences and the general public alike are the cornerstones of ILLE´s music.

POLKOV (AU)
An Austrian indie/pop/rock collective. Formed in 2012, they currently operate as a band with Laurenz Jandl (vocals/guitar/keyboard), Paul Pfleger (vocals/guitar/keyboard), Juergen Schmidt (bass), Guenther Paulitsch (drums), Alex Hackl (guitar) and Florentina Finder (vocals). POLKOV unite the popculture of the 1970s with a touch of Country and stories of their heroes from Computer Games and Kids movies. That might sound like they're sympathetic deniers of reality. On the other hand great songwriting can tell any story, especially if it's sunken in Whiskey and Pedal-Steel-Guitars with style. Polkov have been the big surprise of the Austrian music year 2014 and are now out there to find the Promised Land they've been singing of.

GENIUS LOCCI (SK)
Indie folk / dream pop band from Bratislava formed around two sisters. In just 18 months of existence the band has played more than sixty concerts in clubs and at festivals. In May 2014, they released an EP Innate. Currently Genius Locci are preparing to record their debut album.

RUBBER DOTS (PL)
Progressive electronica & post-coolwave duo founded in 2010. Their last album MKULTRA redefined their previous work. The result is a compact and coherent LP, containing a dark, disturbing and nostalgic compositions. The progressive songs managed to keep the movement - thanks to uneven bits, overdrives and a dirty electronic sound.
Within four years Rubber dots have released two full length albums (Rubber dots 2011, Mkultra 2014) and two EPs (LowTek and ...--- 2013). They have played at the biggest festivals in Poland (Open’er Festival, Audioriver Selector, Coke Live, Free Form, Spring Break), and shared the stage with the likes of Crystal Fighters several times.

FREQUENCY (SK)
Group from Slovakia that defines it work as an alternative pop and space rock. The band consists of singer Majo Jenčo, Domino Šandor – guitar, keyboard, Philip Zubko - drums and Marek Nguyen - bass. In 2012 they released EP Red'oMetry. In April 2015 FREQUENCY released debut album Moon Starter.

KARI (PL)
Described as "an outstanding composer and performer, with bags of talent”, Kari is a singer-songwriter and music producer, currently based in Leeds / UK where she produced her latest project Wounds And Bruises. Kari is a classically educated musician, with a unique contemporary style. Along with her band she delivers an original combination of strong indie-pop vocal melodies, tribal-sounding drums and experimental, electronic soundscapes.  The success of her debut album Daddy Says I’m Special released in 2011 gained a nationwide acclaim among the critics and Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and Last FM listeners.

K BLEAX (PL)
K BLEAX effectively hides information about yourself. The mysterious artist presented in autumn clip for song Survival, which was announcement of her debut album Legal Worldwide. K BLEAX was supporting the legend of the British trip-hopu  - Tricky – on his tour.
After the performance at the Orange Warsaw Festival she announced music video for another song So Spiritual, which was created in cooperation with Big Juice Delaine (Nicki Minaj) and Chris Athens (Beyonce).

MORIAH WOODS (PL)
Moriah Woods began playing classical music at the age of five and continued through her high school years. She began exploring the country in 2007 and discovered the musicians of the streets in Western United States. She became inspired and immersed in traveling and performing random instruments with underground folk punk and jug bands. Upon her return home to the mountains of Colorado in 2009, she picked up the guitar and began writing her own songs. The craving for the banjo over time only increased as was later added to the creative mix. Her classical background mixed with street folk, old-time American classics and a knack for authentic self-expression creates a very modern yet rustic musical sound.

THE FERAL TREES (PL)
The idea began in the spring of 2014 to join the forces of alternative acoustic folk and dark sludge metal as interests and common ground began to grow between Grzegorz Napora, Moriah Woods, Dawid Ryski and Mariusz Antas. Moriah Woods comes from the high mountains of Colorado USA with a very old-time folk and acoustic background and Grzegorz Napora originates from Puławy Poland with a dark metal background. The two, what might seem, clashing elements, have brought together a very unique and moving musical tone that resonates within all of us. In June 2015 band released debut album The Feral Trees.

NEVER SOL (CZ)
Sára is an alumna of Jazz Academy of music in Prague, a place of her birth and current residence, and this clearly shows in her impeccable technique that complements her devotion to express fragile emotions. The debut album Under Quiet (2013) resulted from her two-year collaboration with Jan P. Muchow (otherwise known from his electronic and shoegaze band Ecstasy of Saint Theresa). The album was well received in Czech Republic and was nominated for several czech awards. In 2014 Under Quiet was re-released by Denovali Records. Never Sol participated at the Tokyo 2014 edition of Red Bull Music Academy and she also performs with Tomáš Dvořák's electro-acoustic project Floex.
